About the Couple
Lisa was
born on May 17, 1976 in Surrey, BC. At the age of 4 she came to
terms with the advantages of being the only girl (out of 5 siblings)
when her mother came home from the hospital with twin boys!
Her childhood was spent in the
usual suburban kid way – joining Brownies, Girl Guides, and a local
library reading club, forming roller skating gangs, hanging out at the
mall, and lip-syncing to Madonna and Whitney Houston. In high school
Lisa got a job at a local pizza restaurant where she worked for 5
years and would affectionately be recognized all over North Delta as
“that girl from Michael’s Pizzaria”.
After graduating high school Lisa
went to Simon Fraser University where she graduated with a degree in
History. However, recognizing that job prospects with an arts degree
are rather limited, she went back to school and got a Masters degree
in Archival Studies from the University of British Columbia. Since
graduating in 2001 Lisa has worked in a number of archives and museums
where she basically gets paid to read and organize records,
photographs, films, and maps. It’s a dream job for a history geek!!!
She is currently working at the Simon Fraser University Archives and
loves being back on campus with faculty status rather than as a
student! Over the years Lisa has been fortunate to travel with friends
to exciting locations across Canada, U.S., Australia, France, England,
Scotland, and Mexico.
In her efforts to stay a
well-rounded person now that she is 30, she is active in pilates and
yoga where she tries to tie herself into a pretzel, plays one of
Vancouver’s most yuppie sports - Ultimate Frisbee, and is learning how
to Curl (to impress Jeff). Lisa’s most favorite things are “puttering
around the house”, spending time with her nieces and nephews,
pretending to garden (out weeds out!) and curling up on the couch with
a good book.
